Y’all know I’m kind of a word-nerd, so I’ve got a new one for you.
ALIGHT.
Alight sounds like how trees and windows will be soon with holiday decorations and Hanukah menorahs.
Alight sounds like what my heart will feel when I get to see my siblings and parents in a few weeks to celebrate our son’s bar mitzvah.
Alight does mean those things. And it also means, “coming down or settling in a delicate manner, such as a bird perching.”
Let’s bring this year in for a smooth landing. For a coaching practice called Wingspan, this double meaning feels like kismet.
In addition to the luminary aspect, this season is also a wonderful time to alight, in the avian sense.
My wish for you, dear hustlers, this time of year, is for you to find moments to gently land your experience of 2025, so you can move into the 2026 with intention and grace. I hope you will connect with your teams, your families, your boards, and your communities to acknowledge and sanctify what was during this loop around the sun. Maybe that will look like a Thanksgiving gratitude circle or an end-of-year team reflection.
It’s wonderful to alight in this landing multiple times and in multiple ways, to make sense of the different parts of ourselves that are out there hustling through.
